If you’ve lost something…
Fill out a Lost Property Report
Visit your local police station or police box and file a Lost Property Report. The form can be found at any police office. However, we cannot accept reports of items that were lost outside Japan.
List of TMPD Police Stations
The form is also available on this website. Simply fill it out in advance and submit it in person to a police office. We can’t accept reports sent by email or other means.
We will contact you if we believe your lost item has been found. For this purpose, please provide a Japanese phone number. As a matter of principle, we do not make international calls.
If you’ve lost a bank card, credit card or mobile phone, contact the card issuer or mobile phone carrier to prevent fraud or other misuse.
Police certificate to have your passport reissued
First contact your country’s embassy or consular office to check if you need a police certificate to replace your missing passport.

If you’re looking for lost property…
Access the police online database of lost items from the URL below. This service is only available in Japanese. The database can be searched by item type and date. It is updated at regular intervals so please be patient. For more information, contact the nearest police office or the one responsible for the area where your item was lost.
Also contact railway or bus companies, airlines or businesses where you left your item as they may keep lost property for a few days.
If you are told that your lost item has been found…
If you have been contacted by a police station or our Lost and Found Center

How long will the police keep found items?
If you have been contacted by another party
Your bank or credit card issuer or mobile phone carrier will contact you upon notification from the police. Please check with them which police station keeps the item as well as its report number and go to the correct office during its operating hours.
To claim a lost mobile phone, the SIM card number or serial number is also required.
